The Portrait of a Lady Synchro-Read

On Monday morning I plan to start reading The Portrait of a Lady, by Henry James. I know  almost nothing about this novel and very little about it's author. "Like" Classical Quest on Facebook to follow my progress through The Portrait of a Lady. I'd especially love it if you would read along with me!

This will be my second "Synchro-Read". Just after Christmas I finished The Return of the Native, by Thomas Hardy. I love the platform of Facebook for reading along with friends. Here's a general idea of how things should flow:

1. We'll read three chapters per day, six days per week -- with a goal to finish by January 31. This will give us seven days of wiggle room. Lately, I've been trying to be more realistic about my goals. I have a husband and five young children and sometimes, well ... life just happens. I don't want to feel panicked that I'm getting behind because of my family's pressing needs. Some of you will zip past me. You may be in a different season of life and have more time or you may be a genius-super-speed-reading bibliovore. (Don't forget to give me two beeps and a wave as you zoom by!)

2. I will log my reading time on the days I read. Most of the time I post live, but occasionally I'll update you on what I read in the previous 24hrs while I was offline. I'll put up one status update per chapter, so it should be easy for you to keep track of where we are and post your comments accordingly.

3. No spoilers please. Just write about the ground we've already covered. I love it when I don't know what's going to happen next. Don't you?

4. Drop a message for me somewhere if you'll be joining me. (classicalquest@gmail.com, Classical Quest on Facebook, or here in the comment box.)

I guess that's it. It's all pretty simple really. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
