Post Card: Silhouette of a Doe

Dear Friend,

This is the view from my kitchen window in the morning. I see deer from here often. Lately they've been coming down into our backyard to eat acorns. I've been hoping to capture this image for you. I enjoy living in the midst of their enchanting world. A few days ago I came upon a doe nursing her fawn! I had never witnessed that before. I didn't have my camera with me, but I was still grateful for the experience.

Hope you are well. Have a blessed day!

With Love,
Adriana

  1. What an amazing picture, Adriana. I don't think you have read Harry Potter, have you, but your photo has this otherworldly quality that reminds me of something in the books. Harry learns to use a charm called a Patronus: if a person focuses on some happy thought or memory they can conjure up a kind of of energy force that appears in the form of an animal that will be a guardian or protector for the person. Harry's Patronus is a stag. The Patronus of his dead mother, Lily Potter, is a doe -- as is that of his detested teacher, Professor Snape, who was in love with Lily. Your doe looks magical too

    1. Thank you, Jeannie. The practice of looking for beauty to photograph in my daily life makes me very happy. I've been criticized at times for not portraying "real life." here on my blog. But who wants to see a picture of the dust bunnies under my bed? Not me! If I was an artist, I'd be an impressionist, not a realist.

That's fascinating about HP. I'm sure I'll get around to reading it eventually. Did you know JK Rowling is an INFP? Your comment prompted me to search it.

You have GOT to be kidding. I think your blog -- and esp your photos, since we're on that subject -- are VERY real! You have the ability to capture the Light that is within and around everything in our world -- that we just don't see sometimes b/c we're focusing on the dust bunnies or whatever! Keep it real, Adriana! :-)

    4. Thanks you guys. :-) You two are real friends.

I do bare my heart here! I'm striving toward being "misunderstood less." (That Douglas Gresham quote has stuck with me.) This new practice of publishing a "post card" when I don't have enough quiet time to spend on a longer post is working for me right now. Out of all the REAL moments in a day, the moments I share here and on FB are the ones that make my spirit soar.

  3. When I went to stay with my dad earlier this month, I drove down one street close to his place and looked in my rearview mirror only to see four deer crossing the road behind me. Glad I didn't cross their path 30 seconds earlier!
